Contaminated Sites

Contaminated Sites Technical Services

Let us support you as you talk with council representatives and determine what hoops you need to jump through.  We can help you understand the technical requirements, and work with you to find solutions.

You may simply need a preliminary site investigation or, if you property is contaminated, remediation planning may be necessary. S
ephira Environmental staff have decades of experience in providing fast and efficient on-site work and reporting. From first discovery of land contamination to finalising your intended work, we can guide you through and get your project back on track.
PRELIMINARY SITE INVESTIGATION (PSI)
A PSI consists of review of site history, MfE HAIL activity identification, land use assessment and reporting. This must all be done in accordance with the MfE Contaminated Land Management guidelines.

DETAILED SITE INVESTIGATION (DSI)
A DSI entails a field investigation and/or monitoring services.  These can include soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, ambient air, and soil vapour sampling and/or monitoring. For some projects this can include the development of a work plan and a health and safety plan.

REMEDIAL ACTION PLANS (RAP)
A RAP involves the evaluation of all the possible pathways towards making your land ready for use. It compares the effectiveness, implementability and cost of these possible options. It then provides a design and oversight of the chosen remedial actions.

EARTHWORKS AND SITE MANAGEMENT PLANS (SMP)
Construction managers need practical and clear plans to keep their staff safe and to make sure contaminated soil and surface water don't migrate off site. Sephira Environmental has years of experience preparing plans that satisfy both site foremen and council consent application reviewers. Long-term SMPs can be prepared for in-place management of contamination, when appropriate.

OUR SERVICES:
  • Find out if the soil on your property is contaminated.
  • Determine if there are risks to you or other people using the land.
  • Test the soil or water to determine the extent of any problem.
  • Develop a cost effective solution to manage issues.

SOIL AND WATER QUALITY TESTING
Sephira Environmental has on-staff chemists who have hands-on experience with soil, surface water and groundwater sampling. We focus testing to meet project needs and our subcontract laboratories are quick and reliable.

ON-SITE AUDITING
When contaminated land is remediated or managed, there are often legally binding regulations or requirements that must be adhered to. Council-issued consents that draw from the NES, abatement notices, and enforcement orders must be attended to and followed. Our understanding of the intricacies of council needs allows us to audit these types of projects.

UNDERGROUND STORAGE TANK REMOVAL INSPECTION
We can provide oversight, validation sampling and reporting for the removal of underground storage tanks and connection piping. This work is always completed in accordance with MfE and NES requirements.

HEALTH AND SAFETY
Health and safety is always a high priority. Personal exposure monitoring, including indoor air quality investigations, are offered to ensure the safety of your loved ones, your staff, and the public.
